The Christian Soldiers
During
the Inquisition in the Middle Ages, Church and State cooperated eagerly
to rout out heretics and political undesirables (see
The Vatican). During the Protestant Reformation, however, this
cooperation began to erode throughout Europe.
In PARANOIA, a band of fanatical members of the Society of Jesus, or the
Jesuits, formed to fight Protestantism and
the Illuminati, whose members included alchemists, magicians and
intellectuals. This group, called the Christian Soldiers under the
direction of the Black Popes, regularly
dispatched agents across Europe to assassinate Protestant royals, murder
Gnostics (see
The Illuminati) and spread Catholicism. It is believed that the
Christian Soldiers tried to assassinate Henry III, Henry IV and
Elizabeth I.
The Christian Soldiers, or Vatican Elite Troops,
never ceased their activities, and kept them so secret that today not
even the Pope knows about their existence, recruiting fanatical Jesuits
and members of the Pope's Swiss Guard into its ranks to fight the
Illuminati around the world. At the time of PARANOIA, they are aware
that something is happening -- a rift in the Illuminati leadership, and
a desperate gambit to finish the Game.
